Week 27 Weigh In: Opposites Subtract!
I gained 2.4 lbs last week bringing me back to 194.6. June was a see-saw all month. Whatever I have been doing in June, I need to do the OPPOSITE of that to see results-Lol. I decided to go back to the beginning of my journey and cook my favorite meals that got me to this point with the added twist of vegan substitutes. My Turkey Chili is now Veggie Burger Chili, and my Curried Chicken Peanut Soup is now Curried Tofu Peanut Soup (Review coming soon).
Now to check my gym activity (or non-activity). 3-4 times a week is not how I got to this point. I am re-committing myself to 2 times a day M-F, Supreme 30 Day MWF (yes my 90 days will be more like 6 months), and train for a 5k walk/run next winter. I do much better when I'm training or competing.
The Road To 140: The Long Winding Road
So this pic is a little extreme, but it is the perfect example of how crazy this journey can be. I once asked someone who lost 100 lbs and weighed every week had they ever experienced a gain. They replied no. WHAT? I was so inspired and motivated by that answer. For the first four months I only experienced 3 gains and I knew exactly what went wrong. But after 27 weeks and a rough month, I find it very hard to believe life won't throw you a curve and you retreat to food.
I have turned to it over the last month for celebration, depression, and stress. It always does the trick for the moment. Those cupcakes and M&M's still taste as good as they did in December when I ate my last one. I still won't do Krispy Kreme because that is the road to no return. But after its all said and done, I don't like the feeling I get knowing I've let myself down and gained weight or skipped the gym. I have proven that I CAN DO THIS. It was not a dream. I have actually lost over 30 lbs this year. I haven't been able to do it in years and I won't stop now.
I have 54.6 lbs to get to 140 lbs. That is now my final goal on this journey. I will still create mini goals along the way, but that will be my final stop! Leggo!
Turning A New Page: New Food Journal
I am happy to announce that I have completed my entire food journal! 27 weeks worth of everything I put in my mouth from M-F!! I made a commitment to write everything down, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I excluded weekends as my "free" days and was still able to lose an average of 1.6 lbs a week. I recommend this practice to EVERYONE on this journey because when you don't face the truth about what you eat, you will overeat. The month of June for me was proof enough that writing it down M-F is the secret to my success! ![]() |

The Sweet Tooth Files: Pineapple Shortcakes
![]() |
| I'm going to try different kinds of fruit next time! |
One of the ladies from the Sizzling Summer Weight Loss Challenge shared this recipe with us on Facebook and it was so simple I had to try it. Just use one box of angle food cake and mix with one can of crushed pineapples (in it's own juice). Stir and put into your bundt cake pan or as I did, cupcake pan. In just 15 minutes I bit into the sweetest 2 point cupcake I have ever tasted. The chunks of pineapple are an added surprise. I added a dollop of fat-free cool whip and it was on.
I file this under: Winner!
