Spring Cleaning: My Colonics Experience

I've done something I've always been wanting to try, my first colonics treatment.  I've been told by several people that have observed my stomach fat that I am carrying waste and need to try a cleanse.  One woman at the herb store asked me if was I pregnant and I told her no.  I'm used to this question.  She said if it's not a baby, then it's waste.  Still, six years later I hadn't tried it yet.  But, I am really tired of fighting with the same 5 to 10 pounds.  I want a "clean" slate before starting my LATEST weight loss journey.

How a healthy colon works

A colonics is when warm, filtered water is slowly released into the colon. The water causes the muscles of the colon to contract, "pushing" waste out through a hose to be disposed in a closed waste system.  The first session was for the left side of my colon.  The second session was for the top part of the colon where the gas and bloating is.
My final session, and the one with the most discomfort was the right side of my colon where the oldest waste was.  The technician said I had a perfect colonics and they should've made mine an advertisement video.  I guess I can take that compliment two ways.
Why did I wait so long though?  Well, the thought of hiking my butt up on a table with a tube coming out was scary to me.  But Janice, the clinician and owner of the Mainstreet Spa and Wellness, was so nice and professional.  She explained the process by walking me through the above diagram and I felt more comfortable about what was going to happen.  One jazz cd and a scented candle later, I was ready to go.
Overall I feel really good, besides being a little dehydrated.  The goal is to not put the junk back in my body that won't break down during the digestion period and stay in my colon forever.  Which leads me to the second part of my last session.  The blood test...

The Blood Type Diet: I'm Willing to Try Anything Once

I took a  blood test at the spa and found out I am B+, and apparently there are certain foods that don't break down in my system causing illness, skin problems, and other autoimmune diseases.  Also preventing me from losing weight in my tummy.  She said I need to stay away from pork, chicken, shrimp, lobster, and crabs.  O_o  Well, what else is there to eat?!?!?!!?  Beef isn't my go-to protein and it's expensive right now.   I think I will be slowly getting back into my plant based diet.  As soon as all this chicken, fish, shrimp, and crab in my freezer get eaten!

Recipe of the Week: Low Carb Cauliflower Crust Pizza

I'll be making this over the weekend.  Really excited to find something for my pizza fix.  I'll be making it with homemade pizza sauce, turkey pepperoni, mushrooms, and fat free cheese.  No more olives for this B+ chick. :-(

Quote of the Week: Push Through the Pain

My journey can be summed up in this quote from the legendary Fred Hammond.  After seeing him at the Transformation Expo over the weekend, I was so inspired.  Fred was on crutches, 8 weeks after having both knees replaced.  Through all the pain, he managed to lose 81 pounds!  There is no excuse for me with the full activity of my limbs.  I just need to have faith that I will get the results that I want at the end of this journey.  I am praying for consistency and that my unbelief will hold off.
My focus right now is to get to Onederland by June 21st, the final day of the 100 Days to Summer Weight Loss Challenge I joined on FB.  I love my cyber friends and their encouragement really helps keep me going.
