Diabetes/ Watch Night/ The Sweet Tooth Files

I Got That Sugar!
The official ribbon color for Diabetes Awarness

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes the month before my 30th birthday.  As if I wasn't traumatized enough by turning 30, now I got that sugar!!  I had been overweight since I was 19 years old and my body was beginning to break down.  I still wasn't deterred though.  I had gotten real good at eating my heart out and I was not about to "hang up my jersey".  For the next five years, I acted as if I didn't have it and ate what I wanted, hoping the pills would do what I paid good money for them to do.
That is until this December when I suffered from complications of a year's worth of out of control blood sugar levels.  My new doctor scared me straight.  I was only 35 and I could be facing kidney failure and dialysis.  WAIT A MINUTE!  I don't even have kids yet and I sure didn't want them to have to take care of me!  The clincher for me was when I lost my vision one afternoon two weeks ago.  What I could read that morning, I could no longer read.  Long story short, and  a pair of reading glasses later, I was told it was my sugar.
I've been on Weight Watchers since Jan. 2nd and I'm now 20/20 again.  I'm on the long road to totally reversing this thing.  For more info on the complications and the treatment of diabetes, click here-http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/diabetes-statistics/?__utma=1.1058682076.1327541820.1327541820.1327541820.1&__utmb=1.1.10.1327541820&__utmc=1&__utmx=-&__utmz=1.1327541820.1.1.utmcsr=google|utmccn=%28organic%29|utmcmd=organic|utmctr=%28not%20provided%29&__utmv=-&__utmk=36102048

Watch Night Service

I love bringing in the new year at church.  It gives me a renewed spirit and I just can't wait to hit the ground running with my new year's resolutions.  My pastor's daughter spoke that night and she said that 2012 was a year of DETERMINATION!  We are determined to take "baby steps" to reach our long term goals.
Of course the preacher is always talking right to me!! Lol.  She was right on time.  Every year we give up our resolve after only a few days in January.  If I don't lose 50 pounds in 1 month I'm done.  So my theme for this year is "baby steps".  Each day, each hour, each minute that I make the right decision about my health will get me one step closer to my goal!

The Sweet Tooth Files:  Attention Chocolate Lovers

I can make some mean brownies, so I truly miss baking them on the regular.  Fiber One has made an effort to satisfy that chocolate craving with their new 90 cal brownie.  They are filled with chocolate chips and drizzled with chocolate fudge.  Let me just say, they are AWESOME.  Well, maybe not AWESOME, but they hit the dang spot!

I pop these bad boys in the microwave for a melt in your mouth experience!  For the Weight Watchers, it's only 2 Points Plus.
File this under: Winning!

                                                  Motivational Song of the Day

This is one of those songs where you immediately LOVE it.  This year I am determined to have joy and peace.  I realized that joy is a decision I must make every day.  I choose to experience love, peace, joy, and all the things that God promised me.  I choose a healthy life so I can enjoy all the things he has in store.  I hope this blesses you!

Now you know I am a chocoholic but it's 'go hard or go home', don't mess around with my chocolate. Making a healthier food choice is already more expensive, therefore I need to enjoy everything I spend my money on. So my question is: Is it really good?

It is the bomb. My mom is the chocoholic in our house and she buys it every week. I highly recommend it.
