Motivation/ JFA: Junk Food Anonymous/ Treadmill Gossip/ The Plate Method

Keep Your Eye on the Prize: Visualize!!

I am the team motivator in one of the Biggest Loser contests I've entered.  Each week I have to come up with something to inspire the group and keep our heads in the game.  My latest suggestion was to visualize yourself at the size you wanted to be at the end of your journey.  Pull out the before pics of when you felt the best about yourself.  Find an outfit from the back of the closet that is waiting to make a comeback (I have plenty of those with tags still on them).  Or find your dream dress.  Ding, Ding, Ding!!!  I will get this dress on if its the last thing I do!

And when you see me in it, don't even try to have a conversation with me because I will be too cute for words! LOL!  MOTIVATION!!!

Midnight Munchies

My name is (fill in your name here), and I'm a junk food addict.  They say the first step to recovery is admitting the truth!  I don't know why I get hungry at 11pm, but here's how it goes down...I creep down the stairs in the dark and make my way to the fridge.  I stand there and munch until I get cold, which translates to entirely TOO much time in front of this fridge!  None of the munching has hurt my efforts so far because we've gotten rid of all the sweets and high fatty foods.  So pickles, olives, and fat-free pudding it is.  I've tried sleeping pills so I would be in La La Land by 11, but I get something to eat to push past the exhaustion.  SMH

The point of this story is, keep the food in the house "sin" free and you can feel guilt free in the morning.  If all else fails, post a thin pic of yourself on the fridge!!

Treadmill Gossip- How to Be Social and Still Get it In

During Bootcamp at Victory Lady, the trainers expressed their dislike of people coming in to socialize and mindlessly working out.  Not getting on a soap box here, because this used to be my buddy and I every evening, but the goal is to have fun, but still get in a good workout.  My workout buddy is still hanging in there with me every Tuesday and Thursday and we are constantly challenging each other to take it to the next level all while sharing our goals, rewards, ideas, etc.  In my opinion, save the gossip for the phone, and make gym time all about sharing life changing a-ha moments!

The Plate Method: Mini Review

I just found out the American Diabetes Association no longer uses the food pyramid as a guideline for good health.  They now use the Create Your Plate or The Plate Method, which focuses on proper portion sizes of each food group at each meal.

I always thought the old pyramid had way too much carbs, but what did I know?  Twenty years later, diabetes is on the rise and changes needed to be made.  Your plate can be tweeked according to your own dietary needs, but this method ensures that each food group is properly proportioned.  All I know is, this plate is looking a whole lot better than what I used to work with...

Yes, the ribs got their own side of the plate!  Don't judge me!

Motivational Song of the Day

Praise 104.7 has had this song in heavy rotation since the new year.  I found it on iTunes and discovered it is 3 years old, but right on time.  It is now on my iPod's Gospel Workout playlist.  I hope it blesses you too!
