Instant Gratification: To Eat Or Not To Eat?
That is the question! I can't believe that two months ago the taste of a Krispy Kreme donut was enough to keep me from acheiving my weight loss dreams. Nothing tastes better than the way slimming down feels. Although no food is off limits, I recognize trigger foods and I choose to avoid them for the time being. The glaze donut is one of them. I keep several dream dresses in the front of my closet to keep my eyes on the prize. These dresses have tags on them so there was NEVER a time when I could actually wear them. Getting into these clothes are a dream and represent discipline and strength. That is a feeling a donut can NEVER give me. When I feel like my journey is taking forever (a slow weight loss week), I remind myself that if weight loss was easy, everybody would be doing it. Profound. With that said, I do miss you Krispy Kreme... =(

| I have earned $28 for completing atleast one of the three healthy goals each day. |
Getting to bed at 11pm has been the hardest goal to acheive. This is crazy to say but drinking 14 cups of water and working out twice a day is now normal! Wow. I can not (will not) settle down and hit the sheets. For March, I am really focusing on getting 8 hours of sleep so all my efforts in other areas are not in vain. Not getting enough sleep can actually cause stomach fat and I don't need any extra help in that area! LOL
Here are some tips I found for catching some zzzz.
- Stick to a sleep schedule. Go to bed and get up at the same time each day even on weekends and days off. (So much for sleeping in on Saturdays)
- Pay attention to what you eat and drink at night. Don't go to bed hungry or full. (Sometimes I don't finish my water until after midnight and I'm up the rest of the night paying for it!)
- Create a bedtime ritual. Take a warm bath, read a book, or listen to soothing music, to get your body in sleep mode.
- Get comfortable. Create a room that's ideal for sleeping. Often, this means cool, dark and quiet.
- Limit daytime naps. Limit yourself to about 10-30 minutes and make it during the mid afternoon.
- Include physical activity in your daily routine. Don't exercise too close to bedtime though.
- Manage stress. Get organized, meditate, set priorities, and delegate tasks.

My Big Ego: Amongst Other Things
Apparently blinded by my cuteness (wink), I had no idea until viewing my progress pics that my stomach stuck out further than my boobs! MORTIFIED! "Why didn't you tell me?!", I fussed at my gym buddy #1. No good answer, so I won't quote her. I think we all can be guilty of not seeing what is right in front of our eyes. Ledisi, one of my favorite singers told us at the end of her concert, "If you don't like something about yourself, change it." Profound. But that is the hardest advice anyone can give you, because it requires you to look at yourself in the mirror and tell the TRUTH. Not looking and pretending it isn't happening can make you think that your are still cute! LOL Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of positive self esteem, but I believe it should be rooted in truth not lies. 228 pounds NEVER looked good on me, so I'm not going to try to convince myself (or others) that it was a good look.
