I'm Back!!/ Vegan Life / The Sweet Tooth Files

Don't Call It A Comeback: Summer Sabbatical

My summer experience in art!
I was debating on calling this Week 1 all over again since I was at a stand still weight wise all summer, but my girls from Fit, Fierce, and Fabulous (formerly Sizzling Summer Weight Loss) convinced me to forge ahead with Week 35.  I didn't gain my weight back so I'm still on my journey to change my life, just took a sabbatical =).
I do so much better when I'm competing so my gym buddy and friend in the struggle decided to have a monthly goal of 10 lbs.  Very doable, but to make sure we are pressing toward the mark, the person who loses the most pounds each month receives a dollar per pound from the loser.  Sept 1-Oct 1, doable.  I am so tired of seeing 190-something on the scale so I refuse to get back on there until Oct 1.  This means discipline on my part in the gym and in the kitchen, but I know I can do it.
Graduation is Oct. 27th and I want a cute party dress.  But, I MUST be in the 170's.  Let's go!

 Vegan Life: Vegan Ain't Easy

I love this vegan mural.
Sept 1 also marked my first official day of being 100% Vegan.  I am following Dr. Neil Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes.  After listening to the audio version over 2 days, I was ready to get this thing started.  I collected my menus and my "ride or die" mama and I set off for a 6 hour grocery trip all over the south side of RVA looking for all the ingredients I needed to begin my journey of cowlessness.

Lesson #1- Never begin your journey on the first of the month!  Wally World was off the chain.

Lesson #2- Do your research before leaving the house.  We went to 3 different grocery stores only to realize Nutritional Yeast Flakes is sold at GNC!

Lesson #3- It's easier to be a vegan if you live in the far west end.  Just my observation, but I'm willing to put money on it.

Today's lunch was Easy Veggie Fajitas and Southwestern Black Bean Salad with a Kale/Berry Smoothie.  Either I was real hungry or these were the bomb.com!!!!  Thank goodness I love beans, because I don't think I would be able to do this if not.

Dinner was Quinoa 'Fried Rice'

The Sweet Tooth Files: Step Away From The Muffins!!

After our hellacious grocery trip Saturday, and following a nap, I was able to make these Vegan Carrot Spice Muffins aka "a little gift from heaven".  They were delish!  So moist and just heavenly.  They were only 3 points + and I speak of them in past tense because they are all gone!  With that being said, I decided as much as I wanted to find a vegan snack, I am not ready for them.  I can say no to my mom's animal clad Fiber One Cookies much easier than I can say no to a vegan treat.  Sooo... this week will be fruit and sugar free gum =)

Till next time!!
