Weekly Weigh In: It's Goin' Down
My New Obsession: Uh-Oh
Ukrop's 10K: That's Six Miles People
My friend Tee suggested we join the race. Registering is not what I'm scared of. In fact, I have signed up for a few of these in my day, but actually getting off the couch and training is something I haven't done. So it is 11 weeks till race day and I am determined to not embarrass myself in front of 30,000 people and God.
I think the best thing about training will be getting new running shoes. My current pair I've had for 5 years and have absolutely no traction anymore. I don't plan on running this thing, so don't let the pic fool you. I do plan on power walking to finish at an admirable time. I will try to learn how to jog/walk on my journey as well. Tomorrow is my first day of training which will consist of my Walk Away The Pounds DVD 2 mile/30min workout. I'll do this M-F along with cross training at the gym Tues and Friday. I hit the park track Saturday and Sundays with Tee, and for fun, I will try to get back into my line dancing class before they disown me at the club. LOL Let's go.
Recipe Of The Week: I'm Feeling Tribal Today
I found this recipe while searching international vegan recipes. Liberian Black-Eyed Pea Soup is a different twist to our traditional veggie soup. I've learned that this continent uses spices that are unique to the regions and totally changes the taste of the soup from country to country. I bet you can find many versions of black-eyed pea soups, but none quite like this one. =)
