Old Habits Die Hard: A True Story Of How I Was Attacked By The Cookie Monster!!

My stress levels have been so high this week (and at the time of this writing it is only Tuesday) that last night I was attacked by a box of cookies! True story. This could happen to you! Unfortunately, I can't say it was a random attack because I had put these cookies in my room the night before. Innocent slip on my part.
It wasn't much of a fight because I was killing those Dosidos! But, fortunately for me, the assault was quick. I didn't even know I was scarfing them down until I realized I was smiling and laughing for no reason at all (aka sugar high).
So I admit it, after major car repairs, school starting in two weeks, government docs to complete and new job processes at work, I began to revert back to my old way of handling stress- Binge eating. Not a good look and I feel super guilty. But, wait, guilt makes me hungry too. Time to really pull it together! I decided to get busy in the gym though and to add a morning session. Now my routine is 30 min interval training on the treadmill, morning, noon, and 5pm. Weights M/W/F and beginning March 24th, Body Challenge classes at Victory Lady at 7pm. I think I will become best friends with the gym at least till the end of summer. This will officially put the Cookie Monster in check while I keep focused on getting my life back. One fight at a time...
Reality Check: Things I'm Happy For
This journey is long...and at times emotionally draining. When your weight loss is creeping along, you can't help but wonder if you will ever get to goal. This is the time when I reflect on all the things I've accomplished so far. I've lost over 15 inches all over my body, my chronic cough from GERD is gone (crossing my fingers), I no longer hug the steering wheel when I drive, my bestie says I don't snore like a bear anymore (lol), I have a neck now so my big hoop earrings don't sit on my shoulders, my cheeks are getting smaller so now my eyes don't looked closed when I smile, symptoms from PCOS are decreasing, my blood sugars are in the low range and my skin, hair and nails are glowing and growing!
I'm proud of all of these tangible things in a journey driven by my wildest dreams. I can see it so clear sometimes, I can just about reach up and grab it. I just have to keep pressing forward!

This Saturday March 24, 2012, from 3-5pm the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club will be having a Line Dance-a-thon for a small $3.00 donation. All proceeds will benefit the kids at the Club. It is hosted by Kathy J. Rosel, line dance instructor for the B&G Club and Tammy Parker, my line dance instructor at Rock Richmond.
Kathy promises to have the place transformed into a dance club atmosphere while DJ Crennie Crenshaw will be playing nonstop line dancing songs! There will be no class on Saturday so is your only chance to get it in on the cheap. I plan on leaving a few pounds on that dance floor!
Going Green: It's A Spiritual Thing

So my abstinence from television lasted two weeks =( I tried... But, all is not lost. To observe the last week of Lent, my mom and I will be going green. That's abstaining from meat and breads until Easter Sunday. Spiritually it will be a fast and cleansing for His ultimate sacrifice and I can't think of a better way to end Lent.
I am currently researching new recipes that I will make on the Sunday before as usual, but the recipes will all be vegetarian. I'm excited and I hope this will lead to my new goal of going green one day a week. I truly believe your body needs a break from all the additives and processed foods. In other news, due to constant juicing, the blades on my blender are on their last leg. Looks like I will have to add a new one to my rewards list!
