Week 12 Weigh In: What A Difference A Week Makes
Sooo...I gained 3.4 lbs after a week of sugar bingeing. SMH!! I was mortified, but not surprised. A number of things went wrong. I don't track my points over the weekends and I went out on Saturday and Sunday to resturants and did not make smart choices. Now for the past 3 months I have been only eating portion sized meals when dining out. So my meals usually last me all weekend. This time I ate the whole plate in one sitting plus dessert and a drink like it was my birthday or something. DENIED!
I paid for this behavior. And Lord knows I don't want to spend time on this journey trying to lose pounds that I have regained. That's like a hampster on a wheel. I've never known why that was so fun for them. I also did not get all my water in. For some reason that was very hard for me. On Weight Watchers, I am currently allotted 29 daily points plus, and 49 extra points to use throughout the week. How about I went over my extra points by 20 and that does not include the weekend in which I did not track.
This week I am focusing on water intake, not going over my daily points, tracking on the weekends, and weight lifting (more on that later). Although I know that life happens and gaining here and there is all apart of the journey, I don't want to experience that feeling again. Movin' on chile!!!
Body Challenge Boot Camp: An Exercise Of Mental Strength
My mom and I signed up for another boot camp at Victory Lady. This 30 day program consists of weekly meeting and workouts on Saturdays, and a different daily class from weight lifting, Trekking on the eliptical, kick boxing, step intervals, chisel, flexigility, body works, etc. I will be giving a review of sorts after each class, if I make it out alive.
Bootcamp started Saturday evening with a meeting where we discussed the importance of tracking our foods, water, and workouts. We also learned about the importance of water and strength training.
Saturday-Body Works
Then we got busy with a Body Works class. That is basically cardio mixed with weights and resistance bands. It wasrough fun =) I left a little piece of me on that floor. Plus I absolutely did not like what I looked like in the mirror. I don't know if that is why they cover the walls with mirrors, to remind you why you are there in the first place. It sure motivates me. I did look better than last year this time, but I have a long way to go before I'm happy with my body.

Monday- Weight Lifting 101
Weight Lifting 101 was Monday night. Now this class I questioned whether or not I should be doing this to myself. IT WAS HELL! I never sweated so profusely in my life and I am a sweater. My mom was killing it though. We were encouraged to use heavy weights to get the maximum benefits. Some of those ladies had 15 lb weights. I struggled with my 8 pounders. While doing 3 separate workouts including abs, we worked all the major muscle groups in 28 min. You don't have to be in the gym all day to get it in. I'm out in 50 minutes after cardio and weights and soaking wet. Our trainer Ruth said lifting weights was the best way to lose weight because you can transform your body by building muscle that burns away fat. You will get to your wl goal much sooner. I'm in!
Wednesday is Trekking which my mom did Sunday. She said she literally thought she was gonna have a heart attack. Kickboxing is afterwards and my goal is to TRY to go to both classes. We shall see.
Wednesday- Trekking
Well, I'm alive but I really don't know how I'm gonna feel in the morning. I am a hot mess right now and my body is still in shock. We did tricks on that elliptical that I didn't know were possible. Squats, sprints, backwards, two feet on one pad to work your arms. It was torture, but I made it through. Our trainer Ruth said we will not see results if we come to the gym with a magazine and stay on the machines for an hour. If we focus on our RPMs and set it on challenging levels, we can get it in and be out. That's my kind of workout. I burned 388 cal in 30 min. If I'm alive tomorrow, this would have been a good day! LOL

Things happened but sometimes a set back is what we need to remind us not to get too comfortable in our situation. You were/are losing because you are focused and determined but sometimes our small victories overshadow our long term goals and we stop looking at the prize at the end. Your binge was your lack of focus on the long term and the complacency of having loss. But don't fret... You acknowleged what you did wrong and how you are going to correct it; which is 10 times better than giving up because of a set back. What I always say is: Relapse happens but it's not the relapse that is the problem, it's what you do afterwards. YOU GOT THIS!!!
