Week 10 Weigh In/ The Sweet Tooth Files/ Protein Discoveries

Week 10 Weigh In Results

I lost 0.2 lbs this week for a total of 19.6 lbs.  If I could just reach that 20 lb mark!!!  It will happen this week I know.  There are four more weeks left in the first Biggest Loser contest and I am currently in the lead.  It is still any body's game because it is a percentage game, but at 9.03%, I am 5% ahead of the second place contestant.
We decided to go to Norfolk's, McArthur Mall.  I am really looking forward to spending that $100 gift card, but I cannot decide what to get.  Since I won't be at goal yet, I don't think I want to buy clothes yet.  Maybe accessories and shoes.  They will always be the right size!

The Sweet Tooth Files: Sophisticated Granola

It's that time of the month when I am craving chocolate and I have discovered yet another Fiber One creation that was sent from heaven just for me!  The Oats & Chocolate bar is filled with chocolate chips and drizzled with fudge.  These bars are already chewy, but I pop them in the microwave for 10-15 seconds and serve it on a plate.  Yes, this granola bar deserves to be eaten with a fork!  Bon Appetit!

 I file this under: Winning!!

Protein Discoveries: Beans and Things

I heard about Edamame beans on Dr. Oz a couple of years ago.  Edamame are Asian soy beans that can be cooked, dry roasted, or popped right into your mouth from the pod.  The Seapoint Farms dry roasted bags I buy contain 14 grams of protein in 1/4 cup serving size!  I eat these as a mid morning snack to keep me feeling full until lunch.  They are only 3 points plus on Weight Watchers and come in Wasabi, and Lightly Salted flavors that taste very similar to eating nuts.

The beans from the pod are low in fat and high in anti-oxidants that help protect against cancer and heart disease.  Many people steam them and use as the main protein source of their meal.  It is a "complete protein" meaning it contains all the amino acids that our bodies cannot produce.  For more information on Edamame and Seapoint Farms checkout their site here: http://www.seapointfarms.com/index.html
