Lessons I Learned in 2012/ Juicing Diaries/ Summertime Fine

Lessons Learned in 2012: When You Know Better, You Do Should Do Better

I can't be upset about 2012 when I came out 18 lbs lighter.  However, I had lost 40 lbs so it is still a bit disappointing.  But since I am a 'glass half full' type of chick, I have come up with a list of things I have learned in 2012 that I hope will help me move forward and reach my goals.
At office parties, I swear it was impossible for me to turn down a slice of cheese pizza when there was no other option around. Lesson Learned: No one cares about your diet more than you do. Plan accordingly!
When my birthday came around, I pretty much killed my diet at the bar.  I don't know what happened, but I was DONE!  Lesson Learned: Just say no to mixed drinks!
I have to remind myself that although everyone wants to lose weight, this is my journey to succeed or fail at.  I have to pat myself on my own back and keep it moving on those lonely days in Internet Land.  Lesson Learned: No one cares more about you than you do.  Love yourself accordingly!
Final Lesson Learned, and this is the most important lesson of all...sugar is the ENEMY!  Sugar is not your friend or acquaintance.  As soon as you understand that, you are well on your way to weight loss success.  Keep me in your prayers =).

Juicing Diaries: Fat, Sick, and Nearly CrAzY!

I don't know if you've seen the 2010 documentary, but Joe the Juicer was inspirational.  He lost over 85 lbs in 2 months on a juice fast.  After watching the film on You Tube, I started drinking raw veggies and fruits using my Ninja blender in December and was surprised to have lost 8 lbs in a week.  I also realized I needed a real juicer to do this efficiently.  So Santa and his elves blessed me with a juicer and I am beginning to add fresh juices to my diet.

So far, I've found 3 staple juices that I LOVE- Carrot Apple Ginger Juice, Pear Juice, and Summer Sunshine Juice (found on his website). I still drink my Banana Berry Green Smoothie using my blender to ensure I get enough leafy greens.  I don't buy organic, unfortunately, but I am happy that my produce is extremely budget friendly at Fresh to Frozen grocery store.  Today I got 2 pineapples, 1 ginger root, 8 pears, 5 apples, coconut water, 2 cans diced tomatoes, and lemon juice for $10.18!!
In the film, Joe replaces all meals (3-4) with juices.  I am only replacing meals when I don't feel like eating what I cooked or if I'm on the run.  My doctor will be very proud that I am going to make a serious effort to eliminate meats and animal products.  This takes planning, planning, and more planning, but I can do all things...

Summertime Fine: 150 Or Bust!!

So much to look forward to this year!  I've got one more trip to the Motherland this winter and my boo will soon be coming to the states shortly after.  So I gotta be tight and right!  I started a weight loss challenge called Summertime Fine with my close co-workers.  $120 jackpot with consolation prizes for winners of the mini challenges.  I won that contest last year so I have a reputation to uphold.
On January 11th, the office is holding their annual Biggest Loser Contest.  Yes, that's right.  The one I came in 4th place out of 50 last year.  So you know that means I gotta get it in and take 1st place!  I bought new workout pants today and I'm all packed up and ready to walk at lunch and head to the gym I've been paying for each month.  The hardest part of weight loss is sticking to it, so my strategy is to stay focused and outlast my opponents.
New goal for this year: 150 lbs!  That is a very doable 5 lbs a month.  I am extremely confident that I can achieve that goal.
